The shallow drill program tested known gold-bearing quartz veins to depths of about 200 ft within a zone of altered porphyry on Rainbow Island. Visible gold was encountered in at least two of the holes, and assays should be available later this month, the company said.
In 1911, a 7.6-m shaft was sunk to explore auriferous quartz veins on the is land property, and previous records indicate high grade gold values were obtained over narrow widths.
