Drilling has started at the Hyland Gold property, 44 miles northeast of Watson Lake, Y.T. The property is a joint venture operated and 40% owned by Silverquest Resources (VSE) with the remaining 60% split equally between Adrian Resources (VSE) and NDU Resources (VSE).
The program is budgeted at $1 million, including a recently completed winter road and will include about 19,500 ft. of reverse circulation drilling for a total of 70 holes.
The drilling will test an 8,000 ft.-long and up to 650 ft.-wide fault complex with associated stockworks and breccia zones. Diamond drilling in 1988 was unable to core the highly fractured rock although trenching in the southern third of the complex exposed fault zones grading up to 0.19 oz. gold per ton over 66 ft.
Based on trenching results, Silverquest estimates that the main area of interest has geological potential for about 7.5 million tons grading 0.06 oz. to a depth of 200 ft.
