More drilling at Douay project

An $850,000 drilling campaign to test the ground between two known auriferous deposits on the Douay property in Quebec’s Casa Berardi region is under way by joint venture partners Inco (TSE) and Societe d’Exploration Miniere Vior (ME).

Vior said four drills are active. The 35,000-ft. drilling program will probe targets identified by prior geotechnical surveys, mainly in the area between the Main zone (in the middle of the property) and the West zone, which are three miles apart.

The West zone, uncovered by drilling in early 1990, currently hosts reserves of 643,000 tons grading 0.29 oz. gold per ton (at a cutoff grade of 0.087 oz.). The Main zone is estimated to contain 243,000 tons averaging 0.28 oz.
