Newmont, Barrick in joint effort

An agreement in principle has been reached between gold producers Newmont Gold (NYSE) and American Barrick Resources (TSE) for joint co-operation in the development of their common areas in the northern sector of the Carlin Trend in Nevada.

The agreement includes development of the Deep and Lower Post deposit, exploration and development along the common property boundaries and sharing of Newmont’s bioleach technology.
