Guest speaker at the Feb. 20 luncheon of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, Toronto branch, will be Ian Telfer, Executive Vice-President of gold producer TVX Gold. Telfer’s topic will be “Mining in South America in the 1990s.”
Telfer, a chartered accountant, joined TVX in 1983 as a founding director and its chief financial officer. He became president and played a major part in the company’s growth in South America during the 1980s. TVX, currently with interests in producing properties in North and South America, is now controlled by Inco Ltd.
The CIM luncheon will take place in the Ontario Room of the Royal York Hotel.
