OBITUARY — John Needham

Mining executive John Ralph Needham died recently in Toronto. He was 64.

Needham was best known as a founding member of the Ontario Mining Equipment and Services for Export (OMESE), which was established in conjunction with the Ontario government and minerals industry in 1984. The association has been marketing Canadian machinery and geophysics expertise internationally. Needham started his mining career as an operator in the field and did exploration surveys throughout northern Canada. As an employee for various geophysics companies, he promoted sales of Canadian goods and services worldwide.

He was managing director of OMESE when he died.
