NEWS ROUNDUP — Aurizon increases gold production

Aurizon Mines (TSE) has increased output from its Sleeping Giant gold mine in northwestern Quebec.

Initial mill throughput was increased to 742 from 317 tons per day. The source of the increase was ore mined and stockpiled during preproduction. Operations began in late July.

Aurizon’s project partner is Cambior (TSE).

About 39,640 tons have been milled at an average grade of 0.25 oz. gold per ton. Recovery is 89.2%, yeilding 8,804 oz., making each company’s share 4,402 oz. Costs are estimated at US$233 per oz.
