Mapping school for Laurentian

The geology department of Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ont., and the Ontario Geological Society (OGS) will establish a co-operative graduate Mapping School program.

The program is intended to train young geologists and provide Laurentian faculty with an opportunity for field-based research, which is normally beyond the university’s means.

Students will participate as summer assistants in OGS field crews in various parts of the province, under the supervision and training of Laurentian and OGS researchers. During the summer, they will gather data and collect rock and mineral specimens for thesis work.

Students will graduate with a master of science degree in geology.
