Further drilling is planned on the Taysan West zone at the Taysan copper-gold project in the Philippines.
Chase Resource (TSE), which has an option to earn up to a 67% interest in the Philippine company that owns the property, plans to begin drilling in early May.
Previous drilling on the Taysan West zone included four holes drilled to test an IP anomaly similar to that over the main Taysan zone.
Three of the holes encountered only low-grade mineralization. The fourth hole returned higher-than-average gold values.
A subsequent magnetic survey over the Taysan West zone identified an anomaly adjacent to, and partially overlapping, the southern part of the IP anomaly. Chase notes that a review of the main Taysan drilling indicates the ore is strongly correlated with the magnetic anomaly which is also offset to the southern edge of an IP anomaly in the area.
In addition to the planned drilling, the company will conduct further magnetic surveys over a number of other areas on the property. Chase is working to develop a 50,000-ton-per-day open pit mine on the main Taysan zone, estimated to host about 600 million tons grading 0.3% copper and 0.01 oz. gold per ton.
