Former president of Waddy Lake Resources, Eric Partridge, died in Prince Albert, Sask., recently. He was 75. Born April 3, 1915 in Carnduff, Sask., Partridge began his career as a prospector in British Columbia in 1934. After five years of active duty during the Second World War, he organized a privately sponsored prospecting association to explore for precious and base metals and uranium in Saskatchewan.
That association and others that followed were responsible for finding some of the more well-known discoveries, including Blackstone and Charlebois Lake, Waden Bay, Anglo-Rouyn and Waddy Lake.
In 1969, Partridge was named “Prospector of the Year” by the Saskatchewan Geological Association. In 1983, he was awarded the same honor by the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.
Partridge was an avid gardener, hunter and traveller. In 1946, he and his wife, Betty, embarked on a canoe odyssey that took them 2,952 miles from Red Lake, Ont., to New Orleans, La.
