Going underground challenges Princeton

New operating and environmental constraints were imposed on Princeton Mining (TSE) during the recent change to underground mining of the McDame asbestos deposit from its traditional open-pit operation.

In the past, the company had implemented extensive monitoring practices at the site and the nearby Cassiar townsite in northern British Columbia. As the operation moves underground, equipment operators are wearing air-flow helmets, working areas are being watered down to eliminate dust and a negative air pressure is being maintained.

The company is making ongoing attempts to ensure its monitoring is carried out.

The techniques used are also being continuously upgraded in order to reflect any new techniques.
