Toronto-based Spirit Lake Explorations (TSE) will conduct surface drilling and underground bulk-sampling work this summer at its high-grade gold project east of Wawa, Ont., according to a recent financial report. The report says Spirit Lake will spend $1 million to follow up on recent exploration at the Edwards property where reserves in several zones stand at 277,374 tons of grade 0.55 oz. gold per ton. Calculated at a cutoff grade of 0.10 oz. and a minimum true width of 5 ft., the bulk of those reserves is contained in the Porphyry and Carbonate zones and has been outlined to a vertical depth of 600 ft. Spirit Lake says it is encouraged by results of metallurgical test work carried out by Lakefield Research. Recoveries achieved using conventional cyanide extraction were 93-97% and 70% by gravity concentration. “The tested material is highly compatible with a number of mills in the area,” Spirit Lake says.
