The silver-zinc-lead mine of Minera Real de Angeles in the Mexican state of Zacatecas is expected to be re-opened in the near future, Mexican sources say.
The mine was closed in April, but higher silver prices have prompted the owner, Empresas Frisco, to consider a new plan. Silver has been trading above US$5 per oz. of late; until the end of April, silver spot prices in London were below US$4 per oz.
Empresas Frisco is the sole owner of the mine, having acquired the 49% interest of Placer Dome (TSE) in May.
