United Keno resumes drilling at Elsa

At the Silver King mine in the Yukon, United Keno Hill Mines (TSE) has confirmed the downdip continuation of mineralization previously mined in 1989.

The drilling is part of a program designed to identify sufficient silver mineralization for a 5-year mining operation at United Keno’s Elsa area properties in the Yukon. The company is looking for enough mineralization to support a mining operation of 700,000 tons per year with a grade of 40 oz. silver per ton.

Seven holes intersected mineralized structures varying in width from 50 to 150 ft. below the existing workings. In addition, other drilling has discovered three previously unknown mineralized structures, all within 300 ft. of the existing mine workings.

The first structure was tested with six holes. Two of the most significant intersections were 133.9 oz. over 30 ft. and 108.6 oz. over 8 ft. Two holes intersected a second structure — a near-surface lens which assayed as high as 124.2 oz. over 6 ft. Drilling under this lens intersected a third structure, which assayed 52.8 oz. over 5 ft.

The company continues to explore these new discoveries, as well as the downdip extension of previously mined ore.
