Nymex plans new trading centre

The New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) plans to build a new headquarters and trading floor in Manhattan’s Battery Park City.

The commodity futures and options exchange grew recently when the Commodity Exchange (Comex) of New York merged with Nymex.

Both Nymex and Comex have been housed at the World Trade Center since 1977. The new headquarters will house two 25,000-sq.-ft. trading floors and offices. The Nymex division of the enlarged exchange trades contracts in oil and gas, platinum and palladium. The Comex division is a heavy trader of gold, silver and copper contracts.
