Vancouver-based Crystallex International (VSE) reported the commencement this month of gold production at its Albino open-pit mine in Venezuela.
Albino is Crystallex’s first producing property. Output in 1994 is expected to total 12,000-15,000 oz. Production in subsequent years
is expected to reach about 60,000 oz.
Reserves total more than 1 million tonnes averaging 6 grams gold per tonne. A higher-grade zone averaging about 13 grams will be mined during the first year of production. The project has a mine life of 5-15 years, based on current reserves.
Crystallex operates the mine through wholly owned subsidiary Crystallex de Venezuela.
