On word that Home Lake Resources had staked 100 claims in the Eastmain River area of northern Quebec, shares of the junior company jumped 40 cents to close at $1.55 on a volume of 120,950 for the week ended Sept. 4, 1990. The new claims are adjacent to Windy Mountain Explorations’ wholly owned MacLeod Lake property, where Windy has outlined a preliminary reserve of 30.1 million tons grading 0.48% copper. Trading 12,000, shares of Windy edged up 30 cents to close at $2.80. About to close a deal with St. Genevieve Resources and Stratmin on its Bellechase mining claims, Golden Hope Mines gained 10 cents to close at 80 cents on a volume of 83,500. The partners have agreed to spend $9 million to explore the properties, which cover 18 miles of the Bellechase mineral belt.
According to Montrose Gold Resources, Inco has expressed an interest in the Montrose Twp. property just west of Matachewan, Ont. Montrose has identified three subparallel gold zones on the property and plans to begin a drilling program later this month. Montrose remained untraded at 40 cents bid, 50 cents ask.
With the discovery of two wide, mineralized gossans on the Russell Lake property in the Northwest Territories, Fortune Minerals has staked additional claims in the area. Fortune shares were 30 cents bid, 35 cents ask for the week.
