Utah-based Cortex Mining & Exploration (OTC) has completed reverse-circulation drilling on its Beaver Lake-Rocky copper project near Milford, Utah.
The junior drilled 10 holes, consisting of 3,000 ft., in a program designed to test for copper values in magnetite skarns adjacent to monzonitic intrusives. Highlights are listed below.
The project comprises more than 10 sq. miles, roughly 200 miles southwest of Salt Lake City. Past production from various pits is estimated at 2 million tons averaging 1.2% copper.
Cortex is eyeing eight targets on the property, the most significant of which is the Valley, a deep-seated skarn beneath the alluvium.
Drill holes intercepted mineralization grading 1.5% copper from 500 to 3,000 ft. Anaconda outlined the deposit in the early 1960s, based on limited drilling and geophysics.
Cortex hopes to expand the deposit and determine its open-pit potential, as well as a porphyry target at depth.
