The Lac Harbour property, 25 km northeast of the Eastmain gold mine in northwestern Quebec, will be drilled by operator Soquem and joint-owner GeoNova Explorations (ME).
Prospecting, mapping and geophysical surveying have identified surface gold showings, mineralized boulders and electromagnetic conductors, all in zones of structural deformation. A bedrock showing, stripped this past field season, yielded samples with gold concentrations of up to 7.9 grams per tonne. Mineralized boulders with gold contents of 8 grams and 17.25 grams per tonne were found 75 metres west along strike, and an electromagnetic conductor exists 200 metres to the east.
About 1 km northeast of the showing, a 75-metre conductor coincides with a shear zone where samples showed gold concentrations of 0.05-0.15 gram per tonne. Other mineralized boulders have been found on the property as well.
