Toronto-based Chivor Emerald (CHIV.U-C) has produced an additional 1,100 carats of emeralds from its Oriente mine in the Chivor district of Colombia.
The emeralds are being mined from a vein system 15 metres below previous workings. In March, the company extracted 4,700 carats of emeralds from the system.
To test for a depth extension of the system, Chivor has sunk a 10-Metre internal shaft and driven a drift for exploration purposes.
Meanwhile, the company continues to develop a footwall lateral drift towards the eastern boundary of the mining licence. Additional crosscuts will be driven from the drift in an effort to locate more emerald-bearing veins.
Chivor holds an 80% interest in the Oriente mine, as well as options to acquire 90% interests in properties in the surrounding region.
