Exploration by Gitennes Explorations (GIT-A) on its Virgen property in central Peru has encountered strong gold mineralization.
Channel samples from the surface, along the northern and eastern extension of the Rio Suro zone, returned 2.92 grams gold per tonne over the first 130.4 metres. Those results partly overlap a previously reported 2.51 grams gold over the first 100 metres.
The results include 92.8 metres (from 5.2 to 98 metres) grading 3.78 grams gold, and 19.9 metres (from 15.8 to 35.7 metres) grading 7.24 grams gold.
A second site, 96 metres to the north, returned 1.22 grams gold over 27.8 metres. Another site, 110 metres farther north, returned 19.22 grams gold over 20.6 metres. An isolated grab sample graded 6.49 grams gold. Soil samples have returned high values, ranging from 5.37 to 68.16 grams gold.
The Vancouver-based junior is testing the eastern and northern limits of the zone. It says the new results suggest a more extensive and higher grade mineralized body than earlier thought.
Drilling is expected to start before the end of November, or early next year at the latest.
Gitennes’ wholly owned Peruvian subsidiary, Compania Minera Kori Pampa, can acquire the Virgen property by spending US$1.5 million on exploration and paying US$800,000 over four years.
Gitennes has 22.5 million shares outstanding, fully diluted.
