New symbols for company stocks

Effective this issue, The Northern Miner is including company stock symbols after each company name that appears in bold type in news articles.

The company stock symbol will appear in parentheses (e.g. NOR for Noranda), followed by a single-letter symbol of the main stock exchange on which the stock trades (e.g. T for Toronto Stock Exchange). This single letter symbol replaces the stock exchange acronym previously provided. For example, Noranda (TSE) becomes Noranda (NOR-T).

The new abbreviations for stock exchanges are as follows:

A — Alberta Stock Exchange .

C — Canadian Dealing Network .

M — Montreal Exchange .

N — New York Stock Exchange .

O — Over-the-Counter .

Q — National Association of Securities Dealers .

Automated Quotation (NASDAQ) .

T — Toronto Stock Exchange .

V — Vancouver Stock Exchange .

X — Amex .
