The Geological Association of Canada and the Mineralogical Association of Canada will be holding their joint annual meeting for the year 2001 in St. John’s, Nfld.
The meeting, the country’s principal annual scientific forum for geoscientists, is being hosted by Memorial University from May 27 to 30. Included in the program is the second North Atlantic Mineral Symposium, sponsored by the Geological Survey of Ireland and the Newfoundland Department of Mines and Energy.
Among the field trips set for the meeting are visits to mineral deposits of the northern Dunnage zone in Newfoundland, epithermal mineral occurrences in the Avalon zone, the iron deposits of the Labrador Trough, and the Buchans and Bathurst base metal camps in Newfoundland and New Brunswick.
The program committees will start accepting abstracts following a call for papers, to be announced in early autumn.
