SUPPLIERS ROUNDUP — Hatch given thumbs-up Down Under

Toronto-based consulting firm Hatch has been retained by Queensland Nickel to improve the performance of its Yabulu refinery in Australia.

The 25-year-old refinery currently produces 30,000 tons nickel and 2,000 tons cobalt per year from laterite ores in the Philippines, New Caledonia and Indonesia. Queensland Nickel is a subsidiary of Billiton. Hatch has worked for Billiton subsidiary Richards Bay Minerals in South Africa since the 1970s.
