The Pogo gold project in Alaska will be discussed at a gathering of the Vancouver branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum on March 27.
Teck Cominco intends to develop the project, 40 miles northeast of Delta Junction, as an underground mine and surface mill capable of producing 375,000 oz. annually at startup, increasing to 500,000 oz. annually with an eventual expansion of the mill.
The talk, titled “Flowsheet Development and Design,” will be delivered by Eric Konigsman, a senior metallurgist with Teck Cominco.
The project would require 25-33 months to construct and have an operating life of 12 years based on current reserves. The capital cost is pegged at $200-250 million.
The talk will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Vancouver. Tickets are $30 for members, $45 for non-members and $10 for students.
