Joint-Venture partners KWG Resources (KWG-T) and Spider Resources (SPQ-A) have recovered lamproite indicator minerals from five samples taken from the Contendas structure in central Brazil.
The samples, averaging 60 kg each, were selected from various exposures of maar-lake sediments within a lamproite crater. The indicator mineral assemblage is described as being “typical of olivine lamproites.” The partners are exploring diamond prospects in Minas Gerais and Goias states. Drilling will test the Contendas crater in an attempt to locate the lamproite vents that are suspected of having acted as the conduit for the indicator minerals.
