Significant initial results are reported by Kilembe Resources from an exploration program on the Iron Mountain gold project, near Redding, Calif.
The company says work to date has included reverse circulation drilling, geological mapping and sampling of the brick flats area, and reconnaissance mapping of the other target areas.
According to President Sethu Raman, of the 38 reverse circulation holes drilled, four were wildcat holes and 34 were drilled on the brick flats area, with most drilled on nominal 100-ft centres along grid lines spaced at 150 ft.
The company’s consulting geologist’s preliminary interpretation based on the grade-thickness contour data indicates three south-west raking zones of enhanced gossan thickness and grade.
Among significant intercepts were 45 ft grading 0.031 oz gold per ton and 0.46 silver and 50 ft in hole 1 grading 0.039 oz gold, 0.03 silver.
Mr Raman says zones B and C are open toward the old open pit area where earlier drilling outlined a gold zone averaging 0.055 oz gold over 40 ft.
Zone A is open in all three directions and further drilling is expected to outline additional reserves in this area, he said.
Kilembe can earn a 100% interest by bringing the property to the feasibility stage, he said.
