Mid-Canada, Abitibi begin drill programs

A drilling program is under way on the Bourlamaque, Que., gold prope rty held by partners Mid- Canada Gold & Copper Mines and Abitibi Resources. After this phase of exploration Abitbi will have earned a 25% interest in the project.

The drilling will test several geophysical anomalies which were defined by surveys completed this season. The program will also test for extensions of oreshoots adjacent to a zone which was mined between 1980-1982. During that period, 6,000 oz of gold were produced from the property.

Drilling is also in progress at the Bevcon and Buffadison shaft projects, also near Val d’Or, Que. This year’s program will try to confirm tonnage and grades outlined by previous work near the Buffadison shaft. By funding this work, Abitibi will increase its interest to 45%.
