Alberta Stock Exchange Northfield up on results

Northfield Minerals continued to add to last weeks gain, adding 20 cents to $1.10. The company along with partner Northern Ranger Oil and Gas, can earn a 30% stake in the Larder Lake, Ont., area property operated by Eldor Resources and Kerr Addison Mines. The majors are clicking in the Cheminis zone with some good drill intersections. Talk is that they have a good chance at building one million tons of economic grade material.

Golden Shadow Resources stayed around the 28 cents mark on news that the company has made a takeover offer for all the outstanding shares of First American Minerals Corp. First American is a real estate company. Shadow is offering three of its shares for each American share or a total of 4.2 million shares. Shadow presently has 6.5 million shares outstanding.

Monte Carlo Gold Mines added 22 cents to $$1.07. The company is planning a grass-roots gold exploration program over much of Aruba, a Caribbean island. General Minerals Corp. was quiet at 34 cents . The company, aided by affiliate Consolidated Gold Standard Resources, which arranged a loan, has picked up an 80% interest in a gold property located 240 km northwest of Prince George, B.C.

Ekaton Energy added 25 cents to $1.15. The company is conducting tests at its Wood Mountain kaolin property in Saskatchewan for silica. The industrial mineral could be a profitable by-product of kaolin mining, Ekaton believes. Companies giving up some ground this week included Ontex Resources, which dipped to $3.80 and Claude Resources which gave up 20 cents to $4. Claude’s Seabee gold property in Saskatchewan will be the site of a Placer Development-operated underground program this year.

Troymin Resources has announced a new gold zone at the company’s Mon property in the N.W.T. The issue added 5 cents to 45 cents . The property, which was optioned from Cominco in 1986, has reserves of 1,000 tons grading 3.3 oz gold per ton.
