WHAT’S NEW Chainless Blasthole Drill

Milwaukee-based Bucyrus-Erie has tested a prototype blasthole drill in a coal mine in the central U.S.

Called the 49-R, the drill was designed for high performance, ease of operation and long life with low maintenance costs.

Bit loads up to 100,000 lb are possible with the fully electric drill. Features include chainless, electric pulldown; chainless, hydraulic propel with the abi lity to counter-rotate; high continuous horsepower; deep hole capacity; automati c levelling; screw compressor; and hydraulically actuated pins for raising and l owering the mast.
