Alberta Stock Exchange Most issues lower

After a burst of activity in recent weeks, some of Alberta’s most active precious metal stocks took a well earned breather. At least that’s how it looked after recent movers like Suffolk Resources and Jilbey Industries posted a sudden downturn.

After jumping from $2.90 to last week’s $3.55 level, the Suffolk issue dropped to close at $2.55. Suffolk is currently conducting an exploration program in the Ivory Coast of West Africa.

In keeping with the trend, Jilbey dropped for the second week in succession to finish at $2.40 on 187,200 shares. One of the most notable performers of recent weeks, the company has a 25% interest in the 16-claim Fontana property located in Duverny Twp. near Amos, Que.

Southwind Resources, which recently negotiated an option to purchase the Restigouche silver, zinc and lead property in New Brunswick from Placer Development, didn’t fare much better. Trading on a volume of 316,000, the day’s third highest, Southwind finished at 48 cents , down from last week’s 54 cents closing.
