Anomalous gold values have been detected by a surface prospecting program completed by Westfield Minerals on the company’s optioned gold property near Tartan Lake, Man. Located 10 km east of Flin Flon, the property is held under option from Goldbrae Developments.
Prospecting of a series of linear geophysical anomalies striking for 3 km yielded soil samples assaying between 100-2,100 parts per billion gold. Grab samples from altered volcanic rocks containing disseminated sulphide minerals, assayed up to 0.11 oz gold per ton.
Based on these encouraging, but subeconomic values, Westfield is considering a major exploration program in 1987, the company says. Westfield has the right to earn a 50% interest in the 6,200-acre property by spending $285,000 by Dec 31, 1988. By spending an additional $1 million, the company can increase its interest to 70%.
