A significant new gold zone has been discovered by Aur Resources on its Airport property located three miles south of the city of Val d’Or, Que.
The gold mineralization has been intersected in seven widely-spaced holes drilled on 400-ft spaced sections over a strike length of more than 1,200 ft.
The best intersections obtained to date are 0.10 oz gold per ton over 20 ft including 0.194 oz over 4 ft in hole 401-7; 0.10 oz over 9 ft including 0.22 oz over 3.5 ft in hole 401-3 located 400 ft east of hole 401-7, and 0.17 oz over 3 ft in hole 401-9 located a further 400 ft to the east.
The 8,000-ft diamond drilling program just completed was designed to locate the source of gold grains found in a cluster of five widely-spaced overburden drill holes completed in 1985. Individual basal till concentrates in these overburden holes contained up to 109 delicate gold grains and assayed as high as 13 oz gold per ton.
This new gold mineralization occurs in shear zones within sedimentary rocks south of the Cadillac Break structure and is believed to be a source for the overburden anomalies. A major diamond drilling program will now be required to outline gold reserves at this new deposit, the company says.
Aur is currently involved in four underground exploration programs on its Orenada, Norlartic, First Canadian and Hewfram properties, involving the expenditure of more than $18 million this year. Aur has completed the sale by way of private placement of $1,800,000 of deposit receipts. Purchasers of the deposit receipts will earn one common share of Aur for each $6 of the subscription funds for the deposit receipts spent on Canadian exploration. Proceeds will be used primarily for conducting an expanded underground program on Aur’s First Canadian property located near Val d’Or, Que.
