COATS Trading Features (December 28, 1987)

Newly-listed Strike Minerals showed some life, trading more than 78,000 shares this week. The company, which is one of the handful of coats juniors to raise any money after the Oct 19 crash, is exploring a gold property north of Matachewan, Ont. The issue traded as high as 62 cents . Candore Explorations, which has been inactive, is being recharged by plans to merge with Golden Cresent Explorations. The latter company holds two former gold producers in the Kirkland Lake, Ont., camp, the Crescent Kirkland and Golden Gate mines. Candore, which was 10 cents bid and 15 cents ask, will be merged with Crescent on the basis of one Crescent share for each eight Candore shares held.

Another recent listing, South American Goldfields, was active at 85 cents ,trading 16,000 shares for the week. The company has acquired a large portfolio of gold properties in Guyana, part of which has been optioned to American-based Homestake Mining.
