Meeting planned on ISO 9000

The Toronto Geological Discussion Group is devoting a 1-day workshop to some important buzzwords of the 1990s: total quality management, continuous improvement and ISO 9000.

Topics and speakers at the Oct. 13 conference include “Risk Analysis and Data Needs” by Normand Champigny of Coopers & Lybrand; “Controlling Risks Through a Managed Approach to Data — the Role of ISO 9000” by Erik Roger of SGS Canada; and “Implementation of ISO 9000 in the Canadian Mining Industry — Who, Why and Where?” by John Campbell of Coopers & Lybrand. Other speakers include Robert Kelly of Iron Ore Co. of Canada; Barry Smee, consulting geochemist; Jean Opdebeeck of X-Ray Assay Labs; and Dave McInnes of Commercial Testing & Engineering Co.
