TSE, Chinese officials meet

Officials of The Toronto Stock Exchange met recently with two high-ranking representatives of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) — Tong Zeng Yin, vice-chairman, and Wang Jian Xi, director.

The TSE is working with CSRC on several projects, including a visitation by CSRC staff, beginning this month and into June.

The visitors hope to learn more about the structure of the Canadian market and modern equity-trading systems. For its part, TSE staff will learn firsthand about China’s attempts to build new markets.

In addition to meeting with TSE officials, Tong and Wang were introduced to officials from TSE member firms, financial institutions and their advisers.
