VSE-listed Thumper Resources is setting its sights on the Southern Peru copper belt.
The junior can earn up to a 50% interest in a group of properties held by a private company controlled by David Lowell. The properties were acquired based on 20 years of research and reconnaissance by the geologist. Throughout his career, Lowell has managed five major programs which resulted in discoveries of economic deposits. One of these, La Escondida in Chile, is among the largest copper deposits in the world.
Subsequent exploration by Lowell and others has shown that Southern Peru has excellent potential for hosting various types of deposits, including bulk-disseminated gold and medium-sized copper oxide targets. The Southern Peru belt is exposed over an area measuring 225×25 km and includes four deposits controlled by major companies.
Thumper, which plans to change its name to Arequipa Resources, will have exposure to 60,000 hectares.
