A single high-grade drill intersection of 30.7 ft. grading 0.69 oz. gold per ton has been reported by Inco (TSE) and its two partners from the Douay joint venture, eight miles northeast of Joutel, Que. The hole was one of nine diamond drill holes completed recently by Inco and its partners Cambior (TSE) and Societe d’Exploration Miniere Vior (ME). The drill program was designed to further test the Douay West zone which was discovered last February. The original discovery hole returned an intersection of 59.3 ft. grading 0.23 oz. gold per ton.
Highlights of assay results from the nine recently completed holes in the West zone are as follows: 0108,0708,0202,0000 Width Grade Hole (ft) (oz/ton) 84636 4.2 0.13 5.1 0.11 84637 30.7 0.69 84638 5.0 0.09 84639 1.6 0.26 84640 6.9 0.21 84641 3.2 0.18 4.8 0.25
Holes 34-37 and 41 tested the gold-bearing zone between depths of 700-900 ft. below surface while the remaining holes tested above the 700-ft. horizon. The mineralization in holes 37 and 41 occurs at the 830-ft. and 700-ft. horizons respectively, according to the companies.
Drilling is continuing to test the mineralized zone at depth and along strike. The West zone lies about three miles west of a known deposit which contains 557,000 tons grading 0.23 oz. gold per ton.
Operator of the Douay joint venture is Inco (42%) with the remaining interests shared by Vior (37%) and Cambior (21%).
