OBITUARY (November 04, 1991)

Well-known prospector William Storie died suddenly on his claim at Snow Creek near Cassiar, B.C. He was 82.

At 21, Storie began his career, prospecting for Crown Point Mining. He then worked as an independent, hunting for gold in the Turnagain River area of northern British Columbia where he staked placer claims and developed them. He stayed there until the outbreak of the Second World War.

After serving overseas, Storie returned to the Turnagain area. He then prospected for himself and mining companies such as Cominco Ltd. in northern British Columbia and the Yukon. He settled in Cassiar where he raised his family as he continued to prospect for gold and base metals.
