Encouraging results were obtained from drilling at the Willett copper-zinc-lead-silver-gold property in New Brunswick, Freewest Resources (TSE) reports.
The wholly owned property is 6 miles southwest of the Brunswick No. 12 mine and 9 miles northwest of the Heath Steele operation.
To date, limited shallow drilling has intersected massive sulphide mineralization along a strike length of 800 ft. Trenching and ground electromagnetic surveys indicate the host Willett horizon also occurs some 2,600 ft. to the north, on the opposite limb of an isoclinal fold. The junior has a direct interest in 132 claims in the area.
Hole 95-7, drilled beneath the discovery lens, cut 8.6 ft. of massive sulphides at a vertical depth of 174 ft., with assays of 6.35% copper, 3.24% lead and 8.51% zinc, as well as 7.2 oz. silver and 0.028 oz. gold per ton.
An additional fence of holes was drilled 800 ft. away on strike. Hole 95-3 cut massive banded pyrite at a vertical depth of 100 ft. and returned 0.209 oz. gold, with low base metal values across 1.7 ft.
A second phase of drilling is planned.
Meanwhile, Freewest has entered into a 50-50 joint venture with Moss Resources (TSE) to acquire 18 claims in the Swamp Lake area, about 1 mile southwest of the Willett property. The deal calls for cash payments, with the vendors retaining a 2% net smelter return (NSR). Freewest and Moss can purchase half of the NSR prior to commercial production for $500,000. Moss will issue 30,000 shares to the vendors.
