Ross River expands El Pulpo targets

Ongoing exploration by Ross River Minerals (RRM-V) has expanded five targets on the El Pulpo property in Mexico’s Sinaloa state.

The grassroots-stage property covers 200 sq. km east of Mazatlan. Ross River can earn a 60% interest in El Pulpo by spending US$3 million and issuing 425,000 shares to Almaden Minerals (AAM-T).

The companies have found porphyry-style gold, silver and copper mineralization over a 12-sq.-km area with at least two copper-gold porphyry targets and three high-grade gold vein targets.

At the Papaya target, four northwest-trending structures from 700 metres to 3.5 km long were identified by geophysics. Resistivity and coincident chargeability anomalies are associated with known gold mineralization of up to 144.35 grams gold per tonne.

Three of the anomalies, including the main Papaya vein zone, are associated with anomalies of gold, silver and copper in soil.

Three chargeability anomalies on the La Trucha target coincide with resistivity anomalies and known outcrops of quartz tourmaline veining with values up to 39.81 grams gold, 1,614 grams silver and 2.6% copper.

The extent of the geophysical anomalies on La Trucha, particularly over areas of known mineralization that average 8.64 grams gold, 357.6 grams silver and 1.12% copper, suggests a larger target. At the La Langosta target, induced-polarization and soil geochemistry surveys show an elliptical chargeability anomaly that extends over an area measuring 2,100 by 1,000 metres. This anomaly coincides with porphyry-style mineralization.

Two fairly large outcrops containing copper sulphides and oxides were found about 500 metres south of El Bagre. Samples for these graded up to 4.18% copper.

An IP survey was recently started on the Cerro Colorado grid, on which two large gold-silver-copper-in-soil anomalies were outlined. The largest, 200-300 metres, extends northeasterly and coincides with known gold, silver and copper mineralization. The second is 100-250 metres wide by 1,100 metres long and runs northwesterly. Six trenches up to 2 metres deep and between 8 and 20 metres long were hand dug at La Cetolla. Five of the trenches exposed disseminated and stockwork copper mineralization comprising chalcopyrite and copper-oxides, for which assays are pending.

Also, an area of stockwork copper mineralization was discovered 2.2 km southeast of the La Cetolla porphyry copper-gold target. Exploration work is continuing in this area.

The company is trenching on the Papaya and La Trucha targets, which will be followed up by drilling.
