Conference to shed light on Russia, republics

A conference providing an overview of the Russian mining industry will be held from Oct. 28 to 29 at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto.

Entitled “Mining in Russia and the Commonwealth States,” the conference will feature talks on: the geology of Central Asia; the Russian diamond industry; environmental regulations and permitting; financing options; political and social issues; mining law; negotiating; and privatization.

The conference, which is hosted by The Northern Miner, will also feature case studies on: Cameco Gold’s Kumtor project in Kyrgyzstan; Kazakstan Minerals’ exploration of Kazakstan; Newmont Gold’s Muruntau project in Uzbekistan; Armada Gold’s Baley gold project in Russia; and Nelson Gold’s Jilau mine in Tajikistan.
