Banro Resource (BNRS-C) has cut a 313-metre intersection of gold mineralization at its Twangiza project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Highlights from the first hole reported include the following intervals: * 7 metres (from 48 to 55 metres) grading 1.81 grams gold per tonne; * 22.25 metres (from 63.25 to 85.5 metres) of 1.83 grams gold; * 48 metres (from 90 to 138 metres) of 2.4 grams gold;
* 28 metres (from 141 to 169 metres) of 5.31 grams gold;
* 97 metres (from 175 to 272 metres) of 4.56 grams gold;
* 4 metres (from 287 to 291 metres) of 2.38 grams gold;
* 1 metre (from 299 to 300 metres) of 2.03 grams gold;
* 4 metres (from 309 to 313 metres) of 2.12 grams gold;
* 6 metres (from 319 to 325 metres) of 2.24 grams gold;
* 18 metres (from 329 to 347 metres) of 3.84 grams gold; and * 11 metres (from 350 to 361 metres) of 2.23 grams gold.
The hole, which dips northward at a 45 angle, was drilled 200 metres south of the southern limit of the known deposit.
Ending in mineralization at 361 metres, the hole has extended the depth of known mineralization by more than 100 metres to about 250 metres.
Greg Hawkins, managing director of CME Consulting, which is overseeing the drilling, says the bulk of the 6,000-metre campaign should be completed by Christmas.
He notes that the values from the upper 138 metres of the hole are confirming data obtained by previous workers at the site.
Banro will be releasing more results shortly, both from further drill holes and from 11 resampled adits.
The property is in Kivu province.
