Miners raise funds for BC hospital

Vancouver — Mining industry representatives raised almost $1 million for the British Columbia Children’s Hospital as part of the eighth annual Mining for Miracles Celebrity Pie Throw.

More than nine industry leaders and supporters took a pie for the kids, almost tripling the amount raised in last year’s event.

The list of pie-receivers included Don Lindsay, Teck Cominco’s newly appointed president. The company is a long-time supporter of the Mining for Miracles campaign, which has raised more than $7 million for the hospital since its inception.
