A tidewater diamond discovery in northern Quebec’s Ungava region has caught the eye of
Twin Gold intends to test a dozen Group I kimberlite dykes reported in a scientific study directed by Professor James Bourne, now a consultant to the company.
A sample of between 20 and 30 kg collected from outcropping kimberlites yielded a gem-quality diamond 1.5 mm in diameter, as well as G9 and G10 indicator minerals. The kimberlite dykes were found to extend for more than 4.5 km in length, with a thickness of more than 2 metres.
