Meeting of earth scientists aims to be Canada’s largest

One of Canada’s largest conferences for earth scientists will be held next year from May 28 to June 2 at the University of Calgary.

Up to 10,000 earth scientists from industry, government and academia are expected to gather in what as being billed as the first joint meeting of the country’s various earth science associations. Sponsors include The Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists, The Geological Association of Canada, The Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists, The Mineralogical Association of Canada, The Canadian Well Logging Society and the Canadian Geophysical Union.

The conference, called “GeoCanada 2000: The Millennium Geoscience Summit,” is scheduled to include technical sessions, a trade show, workshops, short courses and field trips.
