MINING MARKETS & INVESTMENT NEWS — INSIDER TRADING — DiamondWorks exec beefs up holdings

Recent insider trading transactions reported by the Ontario Securities Commission in its OSC Bulletin include the following:

  • DiamondWorks (DMW-T) — Delu Holender, director, indirectly sold 58,500 shares at 17-22 cents, indirectly bought 4,000 shares at 19-20 cents and (in a private placement) 435,000 shares at 23 cents plus 435,000 warrants, which are exchangeable to shares at 23 cents each, to hold indirectly 2.18 million shares and 1.24 million warrants.
  • Meridian Gold (MNG-T) — FMR Corp., holder of more than 10% of the company, bought 9,400 shares indirectly at US$4.41-4.76 and sold 600 shares indirectly at US$4.62 to hold 7.8 million shares indirectly.
  • Mountain Province Mining (MPV-T) — Pradeep Varshney, officer, sold 22,100 shares at $1.15-4.00 and exercised 13,000 options at $2.80 to hold no shares and 40,000 options; and Paul Shatzko, director, sold 12,000 shares at $3.10-4.05 and bought 3,000 shares at $3.60 to hold 262,401 shares.
  • Northfield Minerals (NFM-T) — Thomas Larsen, director, bought 20,000 shares at 47 cents, sold 43,900 shares at 40-60 cents and was granted 250,000 options, which are exchangeable into shares at 40 cents each, to hold 309,747 shares and 1.49 million options; Francis Sauve, director, sold 40,000 shares at 30-60 cents and was granted 50,000 options at 40 cents to hold 67,400 shares and 150,000 options; Jorge Estepa, officer, was granted 100,000 options at 40 cents to hold 795,000 options; Kenneth Friedman, director, was granted 50,000 options at 40 cents to hold 150,000 options; Miles Nagamatsu, officer, was granted 50,000 options at 40 cents to hold 650,000 options; and Johannes Weisser, director, was granted 50,000 options at 40 cents to hold 150,000 options.
  • Viceroy Resources (VOY-T) — The company repurchased 40,500 shares at $1.07-1.12 to hold 1.97 million shares.
  • Wheaton River Minerals (WRM-T) — The company repurchased 10,500 shares at 20 cents and then canceled those shares and another 113,500 shares bought previously, following which it repurchased another 184,000 shares at 20 cents to hold 190,500 shares.
