South Africa represented at PDAC

South Africa will have a national pavilion at the annual convention of the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada, slated for March 10-13 in Toronto.

The pavilion represents 12 mining companies and associated organizations, including AngloGold, De Beers and Durban Roodepoort Deep.

“The PDAC is one of the biggest mining investment shows in the world, Toronto is the mining finance capital of the world, and South Africa is one of the world’s great mining powerhouses,” says Wayne Floreani, commercial officer with the South African Consulate (Trade) in Toronto.

During last year’s convention, PDAC representatives met with the South African delegation, headed by Mines Minister Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, to offer suggestions to the draft legislation for that country’s new mineral rights bill.

Mlambo-Ngcuka will be speak at the upcoming convention on March 12 at a breakfast presentation hosted jointly by Investment South Africa and the Canada-South Africa Chamber of Business and Trade.
