Tradex will highlight CIM show

The annual meeting of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, slated for April 28-May 1, 2002, in Vancouver, B.C., will once again feature the Tradex tradeshow. Tradex is expected to attract suppliers of extraction and processing parts. More than 50 members of the Canadian Association of Mining Equipment and Services for Export (CAMESE) attended last year.

Rapid mine development in Germany

From May 22 to 23, 2002, the Institute of Mining Engineering of the Aachen University of Technology in Germany will host an international symposium on rapid mine development. The symposium is aimed at operators of coal, potassium and industrial minerals mines. Emphasis will be placed on increasing productivity and improving logistics and machine technology.

Montreal to host metallurgists

Papers are sought for the Com conference for metallurgists, slated for Aug. 11-14, 2002, in Montreal. Abstracts must be submitted by Nov. 30, 2001. Acceptance will be confirmed by Jan. 31, 2002.

The conference will address various topics, including: enabling technologies for light metals and composite materials; aerospace materials; metal ceramic interactions; and advanced materials for biomedical applications.

Electra coming to Johannesburg

More than 200 companies have already registered for the Electra Mining exhibition, slated for Sept. 9-13, 2002, at the Expo Centre in Johannesburg. Held every two years, it is one of the most representative exhibitions of mining equipment in the world, and visitors are treated to a vast display of products and services.

Mineral processing congress

Abstracts on the future of mineral processing are sought for the International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC 2003), scheduled for Sept. 28-Oct. 3, 2003, in Cape Town. The deadline for submission has been extended to Jan. 31, 2002.

Papers can be e-mailed to impc@chemeng.uct.ac.zaimpc@chemeng. uct.ac.za. The South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy is organizing the 2003 event; never before has it been held in Africa.
