CAMESE hosts booth in Russia

The Canadian Association of Mining Equipment and Services for Export (CAMESE) is inviting companies to display posters at the sixth Moscow International Mining, Exploration and Mining Equipment Exhibition (MinTek), scheduled for March 25-28, 2002.

CAMESE will man the Canada Pavilion. It will be the fifth time the association has participated in the event.

Russia and other countries of the former U.S.S.R. account for more than a third of total world mineral production.

Miners to head to Alaska

The theme of the Alaska Miners Association’s 18th Biennial Conference will be The First 100 Years — Where Do We Go From Here?

The event will take place March 5-9, 2002 at the Westmark Hotel in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Several technical sessions will examine such topics as precious metals, energy, infrastructure, industrial metals, and exploration.

WAM 2002 set for Accra

About 2,500 visitors are expected at WAM 2002, the fifth West African International Mining Exhibition and Conference, slated for July 2-5, 2002, in Accra, Ghana.

About 60 exhibitors took part in WAM 2000, which attracted 2,643 trade visitors from Ghana and other West African countries, including Nigeria, Niger, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Mali.

Visits to local mines are planned.

Ghana is West Africa’s largest gold producing nation, and the world’s 10th biggest.

WAM is West Africa’s only mining trade show; it is supported by Ghana’s Ministry of Mines and Energy.
